CHRISTMAS WINDOW DISPLAYS

For the festive season of Christmas 2018, the SYLLOGES store collaborated with the interior designstudio v.michelis to create three conceptual installations, inspired by the new fabric collections of 2019. For each showcase-installation were used products from three companies that SYLLOGES represents exclusively in Greece. Specifically, in the first showcase were used products of the company ELITIS, in the second of the group COLEFAX & FOWLER and in the third, products of CHRISTIAN LACROIX.
The SYLLOGES x V.MICHELIS showcases are autonomous narratives that travel the viewer-consumer to a fairytale world of luxury and creativity, through compositions that aim to inspire him.
Scene One: SYLLOGES x V.MICHELIS for ELITIS
The inspiration for the showcase-installation with products of the company ELITIS came from the surreal scenes of Tim Burton's films: a landscape reminiscent of a snowy forest with the snowman appearing in supernatural size, made entirely of velvet fabric. On the floor, handmade checkered wall covering made of felt and pressed paper in pink shade. Fir trees, lined with upholstery fabrics (velvet, woolen fabric with lurex fibers, etc.) display in the best possible way the qualities and textures of the fabrics of the ELITIS collection, distinguishing one of the trends that would dominate the decoration, while the use of decorative cabaret in the form of Christmas ornaments, highlights the perfect and specialized construction technique used throughout the shop window. Finally, the lines that support the elements of the installation refer to a stage set with puppets, with the snowman playing the leading role.
Scene Two: SYLLOGES x V.MICHELIS for COLEFAX & FOWLER
The installation with the products of the COLEFAX & FOWLER group was created on the occasion of the Danish fairytale where Santa Claus desperately asks for the help of fairy Hope who lives in the Emerald Forest, lighting a fire in a golden circle. Based on a cotton satin fabric in emerald color, interior designer Evangelos Michelis builds on it a forest with natural tree trunks lined with fabrics from the companies MANUEL CANOVAS, COLEFAX & FOWLER, JANE CHURCHILRILES and LARSEN sets. Here, the first reason is the composition of the different shades and the alternation of the patterns, one of the trends that would dominate the decoration and compose the look of the "emerald" forest. The golden circle as a symbol of perfection and eternal life, of the beginning and the end, highlights the metaphysical core idea of inspiration. The firewood consists of cylinders lined with JANE CHURCHILL wallpaper, while the flame is a special velvet construction.
Scene Three: SYLLOGES x V.MICHELIS for CHRISTIAN LACROIX
On Christmas days, gifts have their place of honor. Small or large, with imaginative wraps and ribbons, they transport us to a festive mood projected through the maximalist composition, one of the upcoming trends in decoration.
This was the inspiration for the third showcase-installation with products of the company CHRISTIAN LACROIX. Colorful velvet, embroidered fabrics, jacquard, and ornate wallpaper were transformed into packaging, while a striped black and white fabric was turned into a ribbon, creating playful bows declaring the welcome exaggeration in the exchange of gifts during the holidays. The importance in detail again demonstrates the high construction know-how used in the shop windows.
